Commander Blood is the first that comes to mind. I've found that quite often French games feature exquisite visual and sound design and that particular series has both in spades.

Because I worked on it: Admittedly, I enjoyed making the nonsequitor mini games more than anything else and it was the voice acting that actually won awards.

I was honestly impressed by Battlefield 1 today. Even on mid details the game looks georgeous and it has one of the best mud textures I have ever seen
