The 100 by a mile. The CW gets horrible rep for being a 'teen' network but the truth is that they are doing some really amazing television recently and the 100 is one of the best series in tv history. It's morally complex, not afraid of some tough decisions, with great acting from younger and older cast alike. Hands down best sci-fi series currenly on air. It is often getting favourable compared to Battlestar Galactica and as a fan of both series I can tell that the 100 succesfully navigated in avoiding some downfalls of late seasons of BSG.

(love Jessica Jones too, but for a fantasy show it gets very real world dark)
(and yes I have seen all other shows on this list, still stand by the 100 and Jessica Jones being top choices out of presented field)

Black Sails is doing some great stuff in the pirate corner of tv. Great cast, great acting and plenty of hard choices.

And after those three dark dark shows, please go and watch Galavant xd

If you decide to go with Doctor Who, keep this in mind: season one can be quite meh, but it only gets better. David Tennant will save things quickly. He always do that ;)

My favourite is The Wire, though.

Breaking Bad is must if you have not seen it following by Fargo on the list you mentioned above. Have a look at Sons of Anarchy, Vikings and blacklist.

Also, check out orphan black. Awesome underrated show. One incredibly talented actress is playing 8 different characters in ONE tv show :D

I enjoyed Jessica Jones and a have been enjoy The 100 which has a nice concept.

Doctor Who is always awesome. But I want to suggest some older stuff first.

Firefly and then watch the movie Serenity
Farscape and then watch the movie Farscape - The Peacekeeper Wars
Dark Angel (ends on a cliff hanger but still good series)
Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Universe. I enjoyed all 3.

Based on the stuff you mention, I think you might also enjoy Intelligence - the Canadian program NOT the American.
Basically http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0845746/ is really good and http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2693776/ is entirely miss-able.

Q2 made me give up after trying too much stuff.
