Be sure to set your monitor to 50hz refresh rate or else scrolling will be jumpy. There is a community patch to fix it for 60hz in the steam forums, if you are not afraid of patching.

Ironically, "Wonder Boy Returns Remix" is more of a direct clone of the original Wonder Boy, while "Wonder Boy Returns" was actually the remixed version with completely different levels and bosses!
